Coast to Coast Special Self-Drive Tour
This tour is an “Adventure Tour”, one of our longest rides, stretching as the name suggests from coast to coast on the North-American continent. We ride approx. 3.800 miles, crossing nine U.S. states and three time zones.
You get a deep dive into “Real America” and its grandeur. The tour is filled with goodies and handpicked experiences; big cities, ocean, desert, mountain, prairie, fantastic motorcycle roads and back roads. The program includes Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Venice Beach, San Diego, Tombstone, Pecos (Rodeo), El Paso, San Antonio, New Orleans, the Mexican Gulf, USS Alabama, Cape San Blas, Tallahassee, Daytona “Biker” Beach, Miami, alligators in the Everglades and Orlando.

Day 1: Departure - Arrival Los Angeles, California
Day 2: Los Angeles - San Diego
(Driving day 1: 212 km/132 miles)
We start the day with an information meeting, where we cover information about your tour on the Wild West Dream Tour & your stay in LA. We also cover practical information & preparations regarding mc and car rental checkout.
Afterward, we check out of the hotel and drive to Explorify MC Rentals to pick up our bikes. The bike you have booked for the tour is prepared, all necessary insurance is included.
When everyone is ready on the bikes we embark on our 6.400 km long journey. LA disappears behind us as we head south for a unique adventure full of history, excitement, and fun! This first driving day will bring some city, some highway and a wonderful drive along the legendary Pacific Coast Highway 1 towards fun San Diego. We start slowly to tune everyone into California’s driving conditions and temperatures. In approx. 30 min our first stop is Long Beach, where we make an extra security check of the bikes, equipment, and drivers before our tour begins for real.
Get ready for a tasty lunch at Ruby’s Diner in Laguna Beach. Milkshakes the old-fashioned way = highly recommended! Thereafter, we head straight to San Diego, where we drive to Historic Old Town, check in to the hotel, and we spend the rest of the day on everything this fun city has to offer: the USS Midway, Maritime Museum, Little Italy, Old Town.
Day 3: San Diego - Yuma
(Driving day 2: 362 km/225 miles)
Get ready for a spectacular riding day! We start the day off with a spectacular ride on the famous Old Hwy 80 and Historic Hwy 94. Look out for curvy roads & great scenery! We continue by riding very close along the Mexican border, and see how much resources the US use to protect their border. We will even ride through a checkpoint. Then, we ride to the Desert View Tower which has an amazing view over the valley.
We will eat our lunch in Calexico, close to the Mexican border. The second half of this day is nothing less than spectacular. We ride through the Imperial Sand Dunes, where you will experience how it is to drive in a real sand desert. It is a rarely unique experience. Thereafter, we head to Yuma, where we will spend the evening in the cozy historic district.
Day 4: Yuma - Tucson
(Driving day 3: 489 km/304 miles)
We head for Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and eat lunch nearby the Space Age lodge in Gila Bend. After arriving downtown Tucson for some cowboy shopping at Boot Barn.
Day 5: Tucson - tombstone
(Driving day 4: 270 km/170 miles)
Welcome to another day of riding breathtaking mc roads. We start the day by riding to the top of Mt. Lemmon at 2.792m. It’s a wonderful ride, we guarantee you will be smiling all the way to the top of the mountain. We take a drink & enjoy the view, before we head through Coronado National Forest and into the old wild west & the famous old western city Tombstone, where we will visit O.K. Corral (the sight of the gun fight between the Earp brothers & the Clanton’s), Boot Hill and the famous Big Nose Saloon.
Day 6: Tombstone - El Paso

We continue our ride in the old wild west and visit the famous old western city Bisbee. Thereafter, we drive to the Geronimo surrender monument, located close where Geronimo surrendered, which also marked the end of Indian warfare in the US. Afterward, we head to Columbus, the historical site of the Pancho Villa raid & his death mask. We ride along the Mexican Border to El Paso, where we will ride the breathtaking Scenic Drive, and stop at the mountain viewpoint, where you are able to see two states (Texas & Mexico). We will also visit Barnett’s Harley Davidson, which has the world’s largest selection of Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Day 7: El Paso - Alpine

We start by driving to Salt Flats, where we also will visit the Salt Flat Café. We continue through Davis Mountains State Park, before we have a spectacular ride by Mt Livermore to Fort Davis, on way to Alpine.
Day 8: Big Bend National Park
(Driving day 7: 442 km/277 miles)
This day is dedicated to exploring & enjoying the beautiful Big Bend National Park. We will ride through the whole park and visit several viewpoints, so hold your cameras ready! It will also be a very hot day, so please dress accordingly.
Day 9: Alpine - Del Rio

It will be another riding day in the wild west, as we head across Texas. We start by exploring the saloon of the legendary Judge Roy Bean, also known as “the law west of Pecos”. We continue to the beautiful Seminole Canyon, known for its many archeological artifacts. Then, we head straight to Del Rio, where we will taste wine at the local Val Verde Winery.
Day 10: Del Rio - San Antonio

Welcome to one of the best riding days in your life; we guarantee a unique lifetime experience, as we drive the Three Sisters (RR335, 336, and 337). Some say it’s the best motorcycle road in the USA, we say it’s one of the best. A real treat to a biker heart. Have your cameras ready! J
We drive out of Camp Wood and start riding the famous Three Sisters where we will make several stops. NB: be aware of other bikers who also have made the trip to ride these fantastic US mc roads. When we have absorbed the Three Sisters, bought our patch & t-shirt, we head for Leakey, where we eat lunch at a popular biker bar. We continue to the Lone Star Museum (if open), Vanderpool, which has a rare collection of antique veteran mc’s on display. Thereafter, we drive to San Antonio to enjoy the evening on the fascinating and cozy River Walk.
Day 11: San Antonio - Galveston

Today we leave the inland and head for the beautiful US coastal shores. We reach Surfside Beach, and ride along the coastal beaches, before arriving at the lively coastal & vacation city; Galveston.
Day 12: Galveston - New Iberia

We continue our drive along the beautiful coast & shores. We embark on a local ferry before we ride through spectacular Gilchrist and Pecan Island. Thereafter, we head inland again towards New Iberia.
Day 13: New Iberia - New Orléans
(Driving day 12: 192 km/120 miles)
Today is Swamp day & experiencing alligators up-close. We head south for the Louisiana swamps for a boat tour with the Cajun man, which will feed wild free alligators right in front of you. Be ready for an exciting lifetime experience! After we have chilled our nerves we continue our beautiful coast ride to the mythical New Orleans and check-in at our hotel in the French Quarter. When everyone is settled in their rooms, we meet for a dinner on the famous Bourbon Street, where we will spend the rest of the evening in true New Orleans style. You are in one of the most exciting and fun cities in the US.
Day 14: New Orléans
(Fun and Explorer day)
This day we will explore New Orleans, which is one of the world’s most fascinating cities. It has a unique blend of history & influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, as well as other continents. It’s a brilliant mosaic of culture, food & music. Here you will find full plates of “gumbo”, long nights in jazz- & blues clubs, historical suburbs and consuming festivals year long.
We start the day with a guided bus tour (optional) around most of the city’s popular attractions, where we get an instant introduction to the city’s rich history. Thereafter, we embark on a spectacular cruise on the Mississippi River on the old steamer boat Natchez (also where we eat lunch).
In the evening we will continue enjoying Bourbon Street and its’ numerous blues & jazz clubs. There is a unique & rich atmosphere. A visit to ”The House of The Rising Sun” is highly recommended.
Day 15: New Orléans - Destin

We continue our ride along the beautiful Gulf shores and the Mexican Gulf, through the US states; Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. We drive through harbors, bridges, and sumps (Moss Point, Biloxi, Gulfport, Bay St. Louis). We make an interesting stop at the battleship USS Alabama. Thereafter, we head for Destin, where we will enjoy a nice evening on the wharf.
Day 16: Destin - Homosassa

Today will be another spectacular ride along the Florida coast & beaches. We start by driving along the Mexico & Panama City beaches. Thereafter, we ride through Apalachicola National Forest, to our end destination; Homosassa, where we will spend an joyful evening at the local bar.
Day 17: Homosassa - Daytona Beach

We start our exciting journey across Florida, the Sunshine State. We say goodbye to Homosassa, set course east, and drive to the world-famous Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, where you will get an up-close view of the fascinating beginning and evolution of the Drag Racing sport. Afterward, we head straight to Daytona Beach & Biketoberfest to cruise down the legendary Main Street and take our picture below the famous Daytona “Biker” Beach sign. Enjoy your two days on the legendary “Biketoberfest” & Daytona Beach.
Day 18: Daytona Beach - Orlando

We embark on the famous “Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail”, a 50 km double loop of road that crosses some of the most beautiful and diverse scenery in Northeast Florida. “The Loop” is not like other rides; enjoy the freedom, sunshine, open road and graceful curves, it is a dream for all motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere. The comfortable ride is a must for those who like an open highway and Florida’s natural beauty. We end our beautiful ride by visiting Destination Daytona (by the world’s largest Harley Davidson dealer, Bruce Ross Meyer, with a showroom of 109,000 sq. ft.). Here we eat our lunch and enjoy the great atmosphere.
Thereafter, we start our final leg to return our bikes/cars and celebrate everyone made it home safe after a fun & eventful tour together. We head to International Drive, to end the day at fun B.B. Kings Blues Club
Day 19: Departure Orlando - Home Travel
We say goodbye to America’s Coast to Coast Adventure tour, Orlando and return home. Thanks for a great ride, good times and sincerely thank you for choosing to tour with JoyRides. Well done Coast to Coast Tour! We wish you a safe trip home and hope to see you again on one of our other tours in the US, South America, Asia, Oceania or Europe.
